The Garden Training Project seeks to provide an enriching, practical means of building skills and gaining competency. Youth as well as adult around Seneca Center participate in the Garden and enjoy its produce. A variety of vegetables are also sold to the community at large. Throughout the summer, the Summer Team of AmeriCorps VISTAS and volunteers work alongside the community members and youth to maintain and harvest the garden while learning agricultural basics, all about marketing the produce, preparing the produce to eat, building team work skills, and experiencing plenty about what it means to live and work in Iowa!
In 2015, The Bridge Garden Training Project became a reality. The Bridge was graciously allowed to use the land behind Seneca Center (owned by Real Life Community Church), and grants were secured from the following:
-Buena Vista County Foundation
-Farm Credit Services
-Natural Resources and Conservation Service
