AmeriCorps position open in The Bridge’s coffee program

The Bridge has an opening for an energetic, self-starting individual who cares about developing job and life skills in middle/high school youth.

This is an AmeriCorps position, focused on coordination of The Bridge’s Endless Sea Coffee Roasting Enterprise. This individual will work alongside and mentor two-four high schoolers in our Endless Sea Coffee Roasting Enterprise. Responsibilities also include development of coffee roasting training modules, roasting coffee, filling orders, promotion of the program, stock rotation, training others, and more.

Hours are flexible during the work day (8-4:00pm), but this individual would need to be available 1 day a week after school/evening and most Saturday mornings. This is a 48-week position (900 hours total or approximately 19 hours each week). The stipend from AmeriCorps is $7,000, paid in 24 installments of $291.67 every 2 weeks. In addition, AmeriCorps provides an Education Award upon successful completion of the 48 weeks, totaling $2,887.50; this can be applied to current school debt, transferred to another’s tuition bill, or kept for up to 7 years.

The Bridge is strives “to care and advocate for Storm Lake youth in vulnerable places of life by meeting them where they are, building a supportive community there, and providing training toward a more hope-filled future.”
